Overview Of Content Marketing
This is the second post in the series Does Your Company Website Need A Blog? Today, we will look at the first reason to add a blog to your company website. That reason is called Content Marketing.
What Is Content Marketing?
The dictionary defines Content Marketing as:
a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.
The Content Marketing Institute gives this definition:
Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.
This helps you position yourself as an authority in your field. It enables you to build a strong bond with your readers and potential customers.
As you continue to do this, it will lead to increased sales without having to resort to the use of more traditional hard sell techniques such as TV commercials, radio ads, etc.
If you are averse to the idea of selling yourself and engaging in continuous self-promotion, then Content Marketing is the ideal vehicle for you and your business.
The most popular form of content marketing is to post great content (posts, videos, slide shows, podcasts, etc.) to your blog on a regular basis. This will allow you to ultimately cease or radically reduce using more expensive forms of advertising like radio and television.
Content Marketing is a form of inbound marketing which seeks to have your audience come to you.
My intent here is to give you an overview of Content Marketing. I hope you are able to understand how essential a blog can be to your company website. However, if you’re still not entirely convinced or you want to know more, in the coming posts in this series will give you additional reasons to seriously consider adding a blog to your company website.
